Healing Lives with NLP - Co-researching Recovery

Sarah Frossell & Hilly Raphael

2022 Conference

You will learn how we worked with people suffering from ME/Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia to co-research pathways to rebuild their lives; how we found a few people who had, after many years, recovered from this dis-ease; and how they became our role models for recovery. Then, for the main part of the session, you will experience the process of being in such a group yourself and understand how powerful co-researching recovery in a group can be.

Diving into a group and sharing experiences of what healing you and they are seeking to stimulate will allow you to take multiple perspectives on your own and other people’s issues. We will take you through the programme we developed and model the ways in which we facilitated real and sustainable recovery in six, sometimes eight easy sessions through encouraging careful listening, questioning and planning, even though some of the participants had been bedridden for many years.

You may want to work on your own issues of healing the mind-body connection initially; you may want to learn more about facilitating similar groups of your own. What you will discover is something you already know: while those collaborating with us had been seeking a way forward for years, as they worked in the group with us and with each other they discovered that they did indeed have all the resources they needed to stimulate their own body-mind into complete recovery.

For most of them it was simply a case of rebuilding their confidence in their own abilities, and encouraging them to explore what is possible when we are supported and working collaboratively.
