Going to the Edge
Sue Knight
2026 Conference
Last year I was invited to run one of my programmes in Italy. Despite having a packed calendar the temptation was too much when I saw the stunning countryside around Sivizzano (a province of Parma in the North of Italy) and I said Yes.
A thought that crossed my mind when I was looking for photos to share of the venue was what fantastic cycling country that was and I said to my friend who wanted to host the programme "I could cycle there!"
My subconscious spoke before I could censor the thought .. and then I thought - 'well why not?!'. And so the planning began. I have toured on my bike before but usually with another. This would be alone and into territory with which I was not familiar.
Any sport (or in this case any sporting activity) is as much about mental preparation as it is about physical and I figured with all my years of NLP that I could handle that. The thing about cycling is that it is just you and the bike (or in this case just me!).
It can be very revealing to recognise that the only person who is accountable for what happens is you/me! Patterns emerge and learning to deal with them is learning for life.
Come and find out what I learned and what you might learn along with me ...
What you will get from this session with me is how to:-
recognise your own patterns when what you are doing is down to you alone
handle any limiting beliefs that might pop up
take yourself to the 'edge' and learn
use elements of NLP in supporting yourself to go 'beyond'
challenge any stereotypes about what is and what is not possible
be aware of your metamessage the metamessage that you want to communicate and for what purpose
