Adapting NLP Tools for Neurodivergent Clients: Some Additional Considerations

Charlotte Noon

2027 Masterclass

In this masterclass, you will explore how neurodivergent individuals may experience NLP tools, models, and presuppositions differently, and why certain approaches may need adapting to feel safe, effective, and sustainable.

As an NLP practitioner, you will reflect on areas such as masking, burnout, rejection sensitivity, sensory processing, and the impact of lifelong correction and misunderstanding.

Together, we will explore topics including ecology checking around masking, sensory differences affecting visualisation and anchoring, “desired state” versus social conformity, and how certain NLP presuppositions may unintentionally reinforce shame or pressure to conform for some clients.

Through discussion, reflection, case examples, practical exploration, and interactive discussion, you will develop a more flexible, neurodiversity-aware approach to NLP practice. The session also encourages ethical reflection around adaptation, ecology, consent, and the potential unintended impact of certain NLP assumptions when working with neurodivergent clients.
